Beach House Paradise

Residential Case Studies

Beach House Paradise

Existing customers of Hoishik purchased a piece of property on Long Beach Island, NJ where they planned to build the ultimate shore home of their dreams. Throughout the design meetings with the architect, Hoishik was an integral part of the process, working to incorporate all of the customer’s desires. The plans included whole house audio, video distribution, security, HVAC, and the ultimate outdoor deck tv. The customers wanted to have a traditional beach house feel while still enjoying a modern technological smart home.

Property Management

This summer home paradise was a second property for a customer who lives in the Philadelphia area. Using the unrestricted Crestron design software, Hoishik was able to integrate HVAC, lights, and security so the customer could manage their property while they were not there. The Crestron system has customizations magic programs such as “Coming Home.” With the press of one button the house will automatically make adjustments to give the customer a warm welcome back to paradise. On the other hand, when the customer leaves the “Away” program will make sure the house is properly turned off. The doors will lock, security will arm, all of the A/V system will shut off, HVAC will run an away program, and the lights will run a specific program to make is seem as if someone is in the home. The customer will never come home to a cold house or drive away wondering if they closed the garage or locked the doors. However, if they ever just wanted to check, from any smart phone, tablet or computer, they can view the status of the alarm, HVAC, lights, and door locks.

The pool on the first floor deck caused worries for the family when they were not home. Hoishik created an integrated solution with the alarm system and camera. When the deck gate is opened, the customer will receive a text message and can seamlessly use the camera to monitor any activity on the deck.

Customized A/V System

During a meeting while crafting the project the customer stated concerns such as having too many cable boxes around their existing home and wishing they could use their family room apple tv in other rooms in the house. When thoughtfully designing the beach home, Hoishik allowed the customer to customize their very own video distribution system. This system included three cable boxes, an apple tv, bluray player, and xbox game system. All of this equipment is located on the ground floor of the house, however this can be accessed by any television in the entire home. Using the Crestron video distribution system, the customized remotes are all programmed to choose any device in the system.

When you are relaxing on your deck at the beach you want to be listening to your favorite music at all times without ever having to leave the sun bed. Hoishik created a whole house audio system that includes Terra Speakers that can handle the elements of being outside year round. This ultimate media system includes your private music collection, along with Pandora, Spotify, local radio, itunes radio, and many more stations that can be changed at your fingertips on any smart phone, remote control, tablet, or touch panel.

The Ultimate Outdoor Television

The final touch to this incredible project was simply having a tv outside on the upper deck. After using the tv their first summer, the customer said, “there is nothing better than watching the US Open in mid-June out on the deck while looking at the ocean.” However this isn’t just any outdoor tv, Hoishik did not want to block the beautiful view of the beach when it is not in use and wanted to protect it from the harsh ocean air. Hoishik contacted an engineer to help design and build a stunning wood box to store the tv when not in use. This tv can access all of the same devices in the video distribution system. When you select which device you want to watch, this 55inch tv will flawlessly rise out of the box for the ultimate viewing experience. When the off button is pressed, the tv will lower back down into the box. To complete this experience, nights with an ocean breeze can make sitting on the deck a little chilly, yet the customer still wants to enjoy the outdoor television. Without moving from the couch, from their smart phones, the customer can effortlessly turn on their outdoor infrared heaters to the desired temperature.

Out of sight when not in use and safe from the elements—a 55 inch TV automatically rises from, and descends back into, a custom enclosure with the press of a button.
