Damon’s Grill, located in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, tasked Hoishik with giving this Bucknell University area restaurant and sports bar a technical facelift. The requirement was to transform an antiquated, complicated system into a state of the art, easy to use entertainment complex with many capabilities.
The dark, low resolution television and projection screens were in need of an update. Being just outside Bucknell University, in addition to the main dining area, Damon’s Grill often operates as a sports bar. Hoishik replaced the restaurant’s old array of screens with the cutting edge technology in 16 flat screen TVs distributed throughout the restaurant. On game day the Clubhouse is packed with patrons cheering on their favorite sports teams. Hoishik updated the old projection screen with a massive wall of high definition 16x9 widescreen projection screens, providing the great picture Damon’s customers expected. The brighter image offered by the Epson projector allows for excellent front projection picture in a busy, bright restaurant. Hoishik installed new Crestron amplifiers and upgraded speakers, providing reliable and consistent listening for customers - a definite advantage over the unreliable wireless connections formerly provided by tabletop speakers.
It’s hard to believe technology has advanced so much in the last 20 years but Damon’s existing system was complex and difficult to control. To accommodate the diverse customer base at the restaurant and desire to showcase many sporting events, Hoishik installed a Crestron DM video distribution system. This eliminates the need for a cable box at each TV and allows them to share and handful of hidden cable, boxes, satellite boxes, Blu-ray players, computers or internet streaming devices with any TV. Often times in a restaurant, you have the same channel or sports program playing on multiple TVs. With DM, it is simple to accomplish this along with reducing cable & satellite box quantities. With custom programmed iPads and carefully placed touch panels, we set up a simple button press that any staff member can press when the restaurant opens to turn on all of the TV’s, projectors, and sound to preset TV channels. A waitress or bartender can very simply change the channel or volume on any TV with the press of a button.
